What You'll Do Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, common areas, buildings and related University facilities.

Responsibilities Clean assigned area of work and equipment.
Operate and maintain mechanical cleaning equipment.
Operate and maintain carpet shampooing and upholstery cleaning equipment.
Strip and wax floor surfaces.
Maintain entrances by performing such duties as hand shoveling snow, ice removal.
Clean grounds and area by performing such duties as picking up paper or trash around buildings.
Operate and maintain vacuum cleaning equipment.
Clean and wax furniture, cases, fixtures, and furnishings.
Clean mirrors, interior, and exterior glass.
Unplug commodes, urinals, and sink drains without dismantling the fixture.
Clean toilet rooms and fixtures.
Stock restroom supplies.
Clean vents.
Dust window blinds.
Spot wash walls.
Wipe tabletops as needed.
Collect and dispose of waste materials.
Report items for repair; issue service orders.
Sweep, dust and wet mop floors and stairways.
Maintain an inventory of supplies in accordance with specific instructions.
Turn on or off lights and equipment; Charge equipment as needed.
Move and arrange furniture or furnishings for cleaning purposes only.
Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED.
Experience in operating and maintaining institutional type custodial equipment (ex:
carpet extractors, riding and/or walk behind scrubbers).
Ability to read, interpret and utilize a Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
Experience with safely mixing and utilizing chemicals.
Able to lead/work with a team of temp workers, minimum of 3 employees.
Train, motivate, and assign duties to temp employees.
Experience in evaluating and quality controlling a custodial workforce.
Computer proficiency is required including Microsoft, Outlook, Google Workspace and the ability to put in and retrieve work orders.
Must have experience coordinating the work of others and following up on results.

Work Schedule This position requires a fully in-person work schedule at this time and is subject to change based upon the duties of the position and the needs of the department.
Union Affiliation This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the AFSCME union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
